【📝Brief intro】

🇮🇹 The 'Cantine Leonardo da Vinci' @leonardodavinci_wines was created in 1961 west of Florence, in the village called Vinci (birthplace of Leonardo da Vinci). In the beginning, 30 wine growers with only 70 ha came together to set up a modern cellar in order to make good quality wine. The success was not long in coming and proved them right. In the meantime, 200 winegrowers have been convinced that it is possible to achieve much better results together than alone: today, the areas under the vines have reached 750 hectares.

This wine is made with the traditional “appassimento” technique. This consists of drying the grapes either on the vine or after the harvest on mats. The evaporation of liquids from the berries guarantees concentration and density, which later lend the wine its full-bodied and fruit-oriented flavors.

Vinification & Maturation: After a light pressing of the grapes, fermentation is carried out at a controlled temperature of 25C° in the presence of skins. The aging process involves malolactic fermentation to make the wine and then part of the wine is sent to the French and American barriques for a minimum period of 9 months.

Deep ruby with violet hints.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of jammy plum, berries, black cherry, mild spices, vanilla, caramel, and tobacco.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, very fruity and jammy with hints of spices and oak with a long fruity persistent finish. High alcohol, full body, medium acidity, medium tannin.

Mouthfeel is very round, off-dry and in perfect balance thanks to a good acidity, tannins are soft, the texture is velvety, aromas are concentrated, it’s really delicious and easy to drink.

【🍷 Conclusion】

A very yummy “appassimento”, rich, dense, concentrated and round, doesn’t feel too sweet as it keeps a good freshness and acidity. Overall, very pleasant to drink.
