【📝Brief intro】

🇦🇷 After their lovely Malbec @seclantas.adentro, I wanted to try the Tannat, one of my wife’s favorite grape varieties as she loves Madiran wines.

Vinification & Maturation: Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel containers at a controlled temperature of 25 ° to 27° C. Once the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine is separated from the skins and transferred to third- and fourth-fill French oak barrels, where it remains for approximately 8 months, with micro-oxygenation.

【🍇Grapes & ABV】

100% Tannat, 15% ABV.

【👀To the eye】

Deep ruby with a hint of violet.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of compote black fruits, jammy plum, black cherry, blackcurrant, dried plums, dried herbs, scrub, pepper, black olive, violet, cloves, and mint.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, concentrated aromas of jammy fruits, herbs, with hints of floral notes ending in a long spicy / minty finish. Full body, medium+ acidity, high alcohol, high tannin.

Mouthfeel is very powerful, bold but still very smooth thanks to a wonderful velvety texture, tannins can be felt but are well-integrated thanks to the micro-oxygenation and the few years in the bottle, it’s really round, complex, flowery and jammy at the same time, the high alcohol and tannins are balanced by a refreshing bright acidity. Beautiful!

【🍷 Conclusion】

Incredible Tannat, one of the best I’ve tried, it’s bold and terroir-driven, powerful and earthy but has a floral elegance to it, a fantastic duality allowed by the high altitude. An exceptional wine.
