【📝Brief intro】
🇨🇱 Viña Ventisquero is a huge Chilean producer founded in 1998 by Gonzalo Vial who owns several vineyards all around Chile and produces high-quality wines.
This Pinot Noir comes from the famous Atacama region, one of the driest deserts on earth and more precisely from the 3.66 ha Nicolasa vineyard located in the Huasco Valley 21km from the Pacific Ocean and 25km inland from Vallenar at 238m above sea level. Climate is cold and desertic with around 45mm of rainfall per year. It’s really an extreme place to make wine and viticulture are only possible thanks to the drip irrigation with the water of the River Huasco. Moreover, the soil is extremely salty at its surface and needs abundant water to be cleaned and maintain healthy vines.
Vinification & Maturation: Hand-harvested. Ungrafted. Fermentation with native yeasts in small, open 300-kilo tanks without any further additives. The wine was then aged in fifth use, 228-liter Burgundy barrels for 14 months. The wine was neither clarified nor filtered.

Pale ruby.
【👃Nose】
Pronounced aromas of cherry, raspberry, strawberry, wild berries, mushroom, wet leaves, forest floor, salt, wet stones, earth, leather, and smoke. Incredible concentration and complexity on the nose!!!! Just beautiful.
【👅Palate】
Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, plenty of fruits along with beautiful tertiary aromas of mushroom and forest floor ending in a long mineral / salty finish. High acidity, medium alcohol, low tannin, medium body. Wine is extremely elegant, supported by a crispy acidity, delicate tannins, a mineral structure and concentrated complex aromas, just so smooth and subtle in the mouth.
【🍷 Conclusion】
Fascinating Pinot Noir from one of the driest deserts on earth, aromatic, complex, mineral, full of elegance. Just magnificent. Try it if you can get a bottle. Try the chardonnay too if you can, just delicious!
