【📝Brief intro】

🇪🇸 Fantastic red wines from Ribeira Sacra. Rodriguez Perez renews the long tradition of colleiteros (vine growers) of his family by founding with the help of his parents the Adegas Guimaro (the Rebel winery) in 1991. Starting at first with the production of young fruity wines, he meets in the 2000s the famous winemaker from Bierzo Raul Perez who will help him see the huge potential of the Ribeira sacra terroir and old Mencia vines to produce age-worthy wines.

Big attention will be paid from that moment to low yields, elimination of chemicals, low sulfur, attention to plot expositions, using traditional winemaking methods… Camiño Real is made from grapes coming from 6 hectares of parcels around Amandi planted primarily with 40-60 years old Mencía, along with other native Galician varieties, at an elevation of 350-500 meters above sea level.

Vinification & Maturation: Once the harvest (hand harvesting) is done, the grapes ferment with the stalk in tanks of different materials, with indigenous yeasts. It then ages in wooden tanks of different sizes for about 7 months. Once assembled in stainless steel tanks, it is bottled just before it hits the market without filtration or fining.

A blend of 85% Mencía + 15% other grapes (Garnacha Tintorera, Caíño Tinto, Souson, Mouratón) , 13.5% ABV.

【👀To the eye】

Medium ruby.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of red cherry, forest berries, cranberry, redcurrant, raspberry, plum, violet and other flowers, tomato leaf, green pepper, liquorice, and toast.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, it’s extremely flowery, a bomb of fruits, complex with a long lingering spicy and mineral finish. Medium alcohol, high acidity, medium body, medium tannin. Mouthfeel is dry, tannins are round, a mineral / salty texture, a high refreshing acidity in balance with concentrated flowery, fruity and spicy aromas. Perfect balance!

【🍷 Conclusion】

So tasty, it’s very juicy, flowery and mineral, a very sophisticated wine, such a pleasure to drink, an outstanding value for money considering all the care put into that wine. A must-drink!
