【📝概述】

【📝Brief intro】

🇫🇷 Château du Breuil produces wines in organic agriculture on the appellations Anjou, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon and Coteaux du Layon Beaulieu, Crémant de Loire and Rosé d’Anjou. The vineyard of around 33 hectares is mostly located in front of the castle, on a terroir of schists and in south-facing hills. This particular wine comes from a 2-ha schist, sandy-limestone soils, argillaceous-schist soils, talcum schist soils.

Vinification: Fully ripe grapes are harvested by hand, selected directly on the parcel and then pressed slowly and gently in the winery. Spontaneous, slow alcoholic fermentation in French oak barrels for 11 months.

Maturation: 6 months in tank before bottling.

【🍇Grapes & ABV】

100% Chenin blanc,
13.5% ABV.

【👀To the eye】

Pale golden.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of lemon, grapefruit, pear, quince, peach, apricot, chamomile, smoke, flint stone and honey.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, with green, citrus and stone fruits plus some floral and mineral notes and a beginning of tertiary aromas (honey). Dry, medium alcohol, medium+ acidity, medium body.

Wine has pronounced and complex aromas typical of the variety, the acidity is refreshing, alcohol is well-integrated, the texture is quite creamy and fat which gives a round mouthfeel, and wine ends in a long saline/mineral finish. Can be drunk now or held for further aging.

【🍷 Conclusion】

Really pleasant wine, it has those beautiful cooked stone fruits and honeyed flavors which I really appreciate in Chenin Blanc, but accompanied by mineral, smoky, floral aromas which bring a lot of complexity, the wine also expresses a nice freshness and should therefore go perfectly with cheeses or fish/seafood.
