🇮🇹 The mysterious origin of the Nero di Troia grape is one of the most thrilling legends of Italian viticulture! It is said to be due to the Greek hero Diomedes, one of the great warriors of the Trojan War.
He found himself on the Apulian coast following his victory over the city of Troy and thus unwittingly introduced the "black of Troy" grape. Cantina di Ruvo di Puglia @crifowines is located in the town of the same name Ruvo di Puglia, 35 kilometers west of Bari.
Founded in 1960 as a small association of local winegrowers, the membership has grown to 1,020 in 50 years. This modern Italian cooperative of winegrowers is the typical blend of local tradition and modern know-how in cellars and vineyards.
Viticulture in the karst landscape (Murgia and Conca di Bari) that surrounds Ruvo di Puglia takes advantage of the proximity of the seaside which brings wind and colder nights, perfect for the ripening of the grape. Grapes come from the rolling vineyards of Mugia, near Ruvo di Puglia, located 400 meters above sea level.
