【📝Brief intro】

🇦🇹 Delicious Sankt Laurent, an autochthonous grape variety from Austria!

The Reinisch family runs the Johanneshof Reinisch estate in the village of Tattendorf, in the heart of the Thermenregion wine region, 30 kilometers south of Vienna. The estate has 40 hectares of planted vines. Thanks to the specific microclimate present between the Alps and the Carpathians, the region is particularly suitable for viticulture with hot summers, dry autumns and around 1,800 hours of sunshine per year, ensuring that sensitive grape varieties like Saint-Laurent do not freeze.

Even in the rain, the wind dries the grapes quickly and they are thus optimally protected against mold. The range of soils is characterized by clayey soils with fine and coarse-grained deposits. The proportions of limestone and gravel allow good soil aeration.

St. Laurent Ried Frauenfeld 2017 comes from the eponymous plot, covering only nine hectares. The terroir is rich in warm and relatively poor alluvial soils, at an altitude of 225 meters.

Vinification & Maturation: The Saint-Laurent grapes are the fruits of vines about 35 years old and were harvested between October 3 and 6. After fermentation, the wine is aged for approximately 16 months in small French and Austrian oak barrels (of which 60% were new).

Medium ruby.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of red cherry, redcurrant, wild raspberry, wild berries, blackcurrant, mulberry, violet and rose, dried herbs, black chocolate, mild spices, cedar, and vanilla smoke. Fantastic!

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, intense aromas of wild / forest fruits along with flowery notes and spices from oak. A long spicy fruity finish. Medium alcohol, high acidity, medium tannin, medium body. Mouthfeel is very elegant, juicy, round with a very high but pleasant acidity, some strong but well-integrated tannins, and a lot of complexity of aromas.

【🍷 Conclusion】

Very fresh, juicy, complex and balanced, beautiful expression of its terroir with an oaky character. Just love it.
