【📝Brief intro】
🇩🇪 Very unusual blend from Germany but just delicious!
The Emil Bauer & Söhne estate is located in the municipality of Landau-Nußdorf, in southwest Germany, not far from Strasbourg actually. It is now the fifth generation of the Bauer family and the two brothers Alexander and Martin Bauer who currently run the estate combine tradition and innovation.
They always make very funny and unusual labels for their wines. They produce both wines from traditional German grapes (Muller-Thurgau, Grauburgunder, Riesling,..) and international ones too (Merlot, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc…) Meisterstück meaning Masterpiece, is a Bordeaux blend with the unusual addition of Nebbiolo, quite audacious!
The grapes were harvested by hand in the Kaiserberg limestone plot, sorted, then slowly macerated at a controlled temperature. The aging took place in French oak barrels with a volume of 225 liters.

【👃Nose】
Pronounced aromas of blackcurrant, black cherry, kirsch, dried herbs, cedar, vanilla, smoke, wet leaves and hint of leather.
【👅Palate】
Pronounced aromas similar to the nose with a lot of spices, smoke and black fruits on the palate. High alcohol, medium tannin, high acidity, Full body. Very balanced and round in the mouth, with smooth tannin, a nice acidity, very complex and concentrated fruity / spicy aromas ending with a long smoky / woody finish. Beautiful work.
【🍷 Conclusion】
Wonderful wine from Pfalz, very complex, structured, elegant and powerful at the same time, fruity and spicy. A must-try.
