【📝Brief intro】

🇪🇸 Another exquisite wine from Raúl Pérez, one of my favorite winemakers.

The grapes come from a vineyard dating from 1995, located in Valtuille de Abajo, in Villafranca del Bierzo. The wine is made like red wine, in contact with the skins and the stalk. The must undergo fermentation in open casks with a capacity of 1500 liters without temperature control which, when spring arrives, spontaneously generates a thin layer of yeast, covering the surface of the liquid. The barrels are never topped up, so it creates a bit of oxidation.

Some new oak casks have been used for the 2018 vintage. The wine remains under this veil of yeast for a period ranging from 11 months to 2 years. Finally, it is bottled without clarification or prior filtration.

100% Godello, 13.5% ABV.

【👀To the eye】

Lemon with golden hints.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of apple, pear, lemon, grapefruit, peach, apricot, some hint of tropical fruits, cherry blossom, fennel, vanilla, honey, cream, butter, biscuit, and toast.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose and thankfully the aromas coming from the oak remain discreet and do not take over the wonderful mineral and fruity notes. Medium alcohol Medium acidity, medium body.

The mouth opens on powerful acidulous green and citrus fruity aromas, which after a few seconds develop into more tropical and stone fruits along with hints of vanilla, toast (spices), cream, butter, biscuit and ends with a long mineral candy finish. Everything is in balance, wine has great texture, a controlled acidity and a good concentration of complex aromas.

【🍷 Conclusion】

Another great wine from Raúl Pérez. Elegant, mineral, sophisticated and complex with just the right amount of oak notes, a perfect expression of its terroir! Should age very well.
