【📝Brief intro】

🇫🇷 The castle of La Turmelière is an old property situated in Château-Thébaud along the Maine River. The Chéreau family has farmed it since 2015. Melon de Bourgogne vines are planted on a decomposed granitic subsoil. Château-Thébaud, a little south of Nantes, is one of ten villages certified in the new classification of Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine called “Crus Communaux”.

Vinification: After hand-harvesting, alcoholic fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. After the end of the fermentation, the wine is kept on its lees for 43 months underground in cement tanks before bottling. Bottles are kept at the winery for six months to five years before release. This wine is made only in the best years.

Pale golden.

【👃Nose】

Pronounced aromas of lemon, citrus, candied lemon, grapefruit, pear, wet stone/flint, salt, honey, bread, and biscuit.

【👅Palate】

Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, with citrus and green fruits flavors, mineral and saline notes, secondary aromas from lees ageing and tertiary aromas of honey. Dry, medium alcohol, high acidity, medium body. Aromas are concentrated and complex, the acidity is high and refreshing, alcohol is well integrated, the mouthfeel is very round with a creamy texture thanks to the lees aging, wine is balanced and finish in a long saline ending. Has potential to age.

【🍷 Conclusion】

Incredible muscadet, lemony, mineral and saline as you would expect, but very refined thanks to the few years in bottle (honey flavor) and to the very long lees ageing giving it a beautiful smooth texture and complexity.
