【📝Brief intro】
🇿🇦 Incredible Bordeaux blend from Stellenbosch. Emil and Sonette den Dulk founded the De Toren estate in 1994. It’s located not far from Cape Town, in an idyllic landscape, between the famous Table Mountain to the west, False Bay to the south and the heights of Stellenbosch to the east.
From then on, they set themselves the goal of creating a South African blend from the five most famous Bordeaux grape varieties. It was in 1999 that the estate's first red wine was bottled, in this case the inaugural vintage of 'Fusion V'. This vintage received a gold medal and "excellent" from the Wine Advocate critic Robert Parker. Since then, they have become a real reference in Stellenbosch.
Maturation: Aged for 12 months in 225L French and American Oak. The Malbec had the benefit of American Oak.

【👃Nose】
Pronounced aromas of ripe blackcurrant, raspberry, blueberry, cherry, liquorice, pepper, cinnamon, tobacco, smoke, black chocolate, cedar, leather, and earth. It’s mesmerizing and complex!
【👅Palate】
Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, absolutely fascinating complexity which leaves you speechless with plenty of ripe fruits, floral notes, spices and oak notes. The finish is very long on spices. Medium+ tannin, medium acidity, High alcohol, Full body.
The mouthfeel is really dense, the wine almost feels a bit sweet, texture is velvety, tannins are firm but in the process of softening, oak is perfectly integrated and in harmony with the concentrated fruit aromas. Wine is elegant, powerful and in perfect balance, a real masterpiece.
【🍷 Conclusion】
An amazing ‘Bordeaux left bank’ blend, it’s really impressive and already so good despite being still young. I would really like to taste an older vintage, it should be incredible. Highly recommended.
