🇫🇷 Last week, my wife and some friends and I visited a very nice estate in Monthelie, Domaine Boussey Laurent. I discovered this domaine last November at the Palais des Congrès in Beaune, during the wine exhibition held on the weekend of the Hospices sale. I was very impressed by the quality of their wines and decided to pay them a visit.

And I wasn’t disappointed. First of all, the welcome is excellent and you can tell that the family is passionate about their work and their vines; they can talk at length about each wine, each terroir, each plot, which is a real pleasure.

As for the wines themselves, they produce mainly white and red wines from Monthélie, with a little Volnay, Pommard, Savigny, Aloxe-Corton, Auxey-Duresses and Beaune for the reds, and Savigny, Meursault and Puligny for the whites.

In my opinion, the reds are exceptional, with incredible value for money. They are delicate, perfumed, silky, very « pinoting », accessible young, but some will age well.

As for the whites, they are very well-balanced, with controlled, elegant acidity and well-integrated oak, making for a very good Chardonnay. I can’t recommend their wines highly enough, and I’ll be going back to see them for the Printemps de Monthélie in April.
