【📝Brief intro】
🇿🇦 Another fantastic wine from Kleine Zalze. The estate 'De Zalze' was founded in 1683 by a German: his name was Nicholas Cleef. As we can read in documents from this period, this reckless winegrower once planted 7,000 vines. Later, the house was bought by famous South African families (Colyn, Krige, Du Toit or De Waal) before an international merchant acquired it in 1968. 30 years later, Kobus Basson and Rolf Schutz became owners of the estate and offered high-quality wines.
Vinification & Maturation: The grapes have grown on different plots in the possession of the estate. They were harvested separately by hand, then delicately pressed, before fermenting partly in stainless steel tanks, partly in fermentation tanks open from the top. Once racked, the wine was transferred into French oak barrels (40% new, 30% second use and 30% third use) to be aged there for 18 months.

Deep ruby with purple hints.
【👃Nose】
Pronounced aromas of ripe black cherry, black plum, cassis, dried herbs, blackcurrant, blackberry, mild spices, tobacco, cedar, coffee, and vanilla.
【👅Palate】
Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, plenty of black fruits, a bit herbaceous combined with very pleasant oak notes. Full-body, high alcohol, high tannins, medium acidity.
Mouthfeel is dry, powerful, it has a strong tannic structure which is balanced by the incredible concentration of fruits and oaks aromas, the palate remains velvety and all the elements feel well-integrated. The ending is very persistent, mineral, and leaves you with a sense of elegance and finesse.
【🍷 Conclusion】
Superb Cabernet Sauvignon from Stellenbosch, full of power, rich, bold, perfectly balanced and tasty which displays elegance and smoothness at the same time. Should age really well but can already be drunk. Incredible value for money!
