【📝Brief intro】
🇿🇦 Stellenrust Wine Estate is just ten kilometers south of Stellenbosch, the heart of South African wine growing. Since its founding in 1928, it has grown into one of the largest family-owned estates in the country, with 400 hectares of land, half of which is under vines. The viticulture has been converted in favor of significant sustainability and the estate has succeeded in obtaining the Fair-Trade label.
The grapes come from the Stellenbosch wine region, specifically from a plot planted 55 years ago on the slopes of the Bottelary Hills. The terroir is strongly ferruginous. All the vines are cultivated in a shrubby way, which contributes to a specific microclimate and avoids too much sunshine.
Vinification & Maturation: The berries were harvested by hand, then delicately pressed, before fermenting and maturing for 9 months in barrels (90% French wood, 10% Hungarian wood). They must remain on the lees throughout this period.

100% Chenin blanc, 13.5% ABV.

Pale golden.
【👃Nose】
Pronounced aromas of pineapple, melon, yellow plum, apricot, white peach, pear, citrus, mandarin, orange zest, dried herbs, honey, cardamom, vanilla, caramel, toast, biscuit, cream, butter.
【👅Palate】
Pronounced aromas similar to the nose, very complex with aromas of tropical, stone, citrus fruits combined with powerful oak notes of mild spices, caramel, vanilla, hints of lees aging (biscuit), and MLF (butter). Dry, medium alcohol, medium body, high acidity.
Perfect balance between the intensity of the fruity aromas and the oak notes, nice fresh acidity, and the medium alcohol, the wine displays a silky buttery texture and a splendid long mineral finish.
【🍷 Conclusion】
A wonderful wine, the reason why I love Chenin blanc from South Africa, fruity, oaky, silky, elegant, so much complexity, so enjoyable and fresh.
