【📝Brief intro】
🇪🇸 Wonderful visit of the Bodegas Estefania in Bierzo not far from Ponferrada, famous for their Tilenus wines like Tilenus La Florida, Tilenus Pagos de Posada and Tilenus Pieros made from Mencia. They also make white wines from Godello.
I highly recommend their wines as they are absolutely delicious. Bodegas Estefania was established in 1999 by the Frias family. They own around 40 hectares of vines in Bierzo, most of which are over 100 years old, and surrounded by beautiful landscapes. They belong to the MGWines Group since 2014 which brings together several estates in Spain. They also collaborate with the famous Raul Perez who works as an oenologist for the winery.
We started the visit with Noelia, another oenologist of the winery, who shared with us the history of the estate, explained to us all the winemaking process and allowed us to taste the wines directly from the barrels or the vats, from different years so that we could compare their evolution and compare them with the finished product.
Later, Eva, the director, took us to the vineyards so we could meet Jose, the winegrower, who shared with us his passion for his vines and for Bierzo. He doesn’t use any pesticides, no chemicals, and all the processes are made by hand. We were dumbfounded by the beauty of the landscapes. It was really a fantastic experience overall and I really thank Eva Noelia and Jose for the nice welcome we received.
