【📝Brief intro】
🇫🇷 Let’s continue our trip in Burgundy with our stop at Patriarche cellars (Caves Patriarche Père et Fils).
Patriarche is one of the largest and oldest merchant and wine maturer companies of Burgundy, located in the city center of Beaune. In 1796, the Patriarche family, known in Beaune since 1780 as a family of merchants and winegrowers, bought the former convent of the Visitandine sisters and set up their activities there. At the end of 1930, the Patriarche family, having no successors to take over the family business, sold it to André Boisseau. It was bought in 2011 by the Bordeaux group Castel.
As a visitor, you can visit the old 17th-century chapel, through which then you can access a 5 km labyrinth of galleries and vaulted cellars, built between the 13th and 19th centuries, where the wines are aged in casks, barrels and bottles (with nearly three million bottles, including some very old vintages from the 1900s for the oldest).
⭐A part of it can be visited and is absolutely magnificent. The visit ends with some very nice winetasting including :

⭐My two favorites:
The Clos de la Roche Grand Cru 2018, out of this world, ripe cherry, redcurrant, strawberry, a minty touch incredibly smooth, elegant and concentrated with a very long ending.
The Hospices de Beaune Meursault Premier Cru Genevrières 2007 was insane too, honey, nuts, vanilla, butter, sweet spices, jammy white fruits (peach/apricot), with incredible complexity and a very long ending.
